One day as I returned home from my day’s work, my helper informed me, “madam telephone  exchange room sey message aaya thaa ki Rajneesh sahib ka paanch saal ka jo bachcha hai ussey Medical Inspection Room mein kal Sunday ko polio drop key liyeh bhejna hai”.
When my husband (Rajneesh) arrived, the helper passed the message again to him verbatim. Both of us sat thinking if the telephone exchange personnel has wrong figure about our family size. We didn’t have kids then.... We were just newly married! I began pulling my hubby’s legs if he had had a kid from his past encounters with some of his ex. Rajneesh almost panicked and went to find the truth. Newly Commissioned Officers : Confusions galore !

Barely four days old in my first  Army unit, as a newly commissioned Indian Army officer; I was instructed to announce the ‘Tambola’ as the entertainment officer had fallen sick. Not knowing ABC of the game and with no questions to be asked being the junior most , I took to announcing the digits. All was going well till I announced NINE ONE - ninety one. Not understanding the chaos that got created, I continued and finally ended the game. I rushed to my Commandant anticipating a pat on my back for doing the assigned task so well.  He barked, “GRRRR..... there are only 90 digits in Tambola, you announced 16 as 91”

As the newly appointed Company Commander of my unit in Bengdubi in the year 1994, I began my day by being informed by the Junior Commissioned officer ( JCO Adjutant commonly adressed as JA saheb ) that the Jawans (soldiers) who have come back from leave will line up up outside my office, he will call me for meeting them. I sat waiting in my office . Soon I hear a statement in a muffled voice " Kya bolna hai?"the CHM( Company Havaldar Major) asked the  JA Saheb. " chutti parade aapkey nirikchan key liye hazir hai Shriman". The CHM murmured, "but saheb Company Commander saheb toh mahila hain" The JA got confused. he ordered, " Ok bolo, chutti parade aapkey nirikchan key liye haazir hai Shrimati ". The CHM again corrected the JA," par Company Commander Saheb ki shaadi nahi hui toh Shrimati kaisey bolengey?" The JA further got confused. he finally announced, " sikhlaya hue tareekey sey bolengey - chutti parade aapkey nirikchan key liye hazir hai Shriman"
